About
The comic strip Blazing Sea Nuggets was born in spring 2000 in Southgate dormitory on Duke University's east campus in response to The Chronicle's call for student cartoon submissions. Hoping for a 1 day a week spot on the funny page of Duke's daily student newspaper, co-creators David Logan and Eric Bramley landed a 3-day-a-week spot as unpaid entertainers for the 16,000 students, faculty, staff, and community members who read the paper daily. Despite serious doubts from peers and family members as to Eric and Dave's ability to be funny 3 times a week, the comic was a hit that first Fall 2000 semester and went on to run 5 days a week for the next 2 years.
Distractions with an animation project and general senior year laziness convinced Eric and Dave to call it quits after the first semester of their senior year (Fall 2002). With their newfound free time, Dave and Eric compiled their previous comic creations into a book as an exercise to learn the Adobe Publisher software. Despite further serious misgivings of parents and peers, Eric and Dave pooled their resources from previous summer jobs and self-published the Blazing Sea Nuggets collection Goodbye, Farewell, and Quiet You! which went on to sell 1800 copies through their amazing marketing effort of sitting on the student walkway with a box of books.
Today, Eric is a consultant and lives in Atlanta in a house with a bomb shelter out back along with his wife, Anna, his cat, Abby, and his dog, Lucky. After a 4 year stint working at Microsoft, Dave quit his job and is now unemployed living in his parents' basement hoping to relaunch his career as a character animator instead of a computer programmer.
